Do I Need to Renew EVUS?

There are several reasons why you may need to renew your EVUS. Take a look at the common situations explained below.

Your EVUS has expired

EVUS registrations are valid for 2 years. After this time, they cannot be used to enter the U.S.

If your EVUS has expired, you’ll need to renew it if you wish to return to the States.

Your passport has expired

EVUS registrations are also no longer valid if your passport expires before the 2-year validity. This is also the case if you change your passport for any reason, e.g., loss or theft.

Each EVUS is connected to a specific passport. If the details change the EVUS must also be updated to reflect the renewed passport.

Your U.S. visa has expired

The visa details used for the EVUS registration must match the documents used to enter the U.S.

If your B1/B2 or B1/2 visa has changed since you first registered with EVUS, you’ll need to register again using the new visa details.

How to Renew EVUS

If your EVUS visa has expired and you need to renew your travel authorization for the USA, the process is simple.

EVUS renewal is effectively the same as the original application. You simply need to complete an online EVUS form by entering the required information.

When should I renew my EVUS?

You should renew your EVUS at least 2 days before traveling to the U.S. Although most EVUS applications only take 1 day to process, some can take up to 2 days.

Before completing the EVUS renewal, you should read each section of the form carefully and revise all the information you enter. It’s important to avoid providing any incorrect or inaccurate information, as this will result in the application being rejected.

Once you’ve submitted the new request, the system will set your EVUS status to “pending” while it’s being reviewed.
